Scarlett Johansson scored a big win for herself and pay equity in Hollywood. Johansson, who has played the superhero spy Natasha Romanova in six films, will make $15 million to star in an upcoming solo film centered on the character, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Marvel Studios would not confirm or deny the figure.
Johansson’s salary for Black Widow equals what Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth earned for playing Captain America and Thor in Avengers: Infinity War, according to reports. The two Chris’ also earned $15 million each for their solo films: 2016’s Captain America: Civil War and 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok.
Johansson has long been a passionate advocate for pay parity, telling Cosmopolitan in 2016 that she believes the gender pay gap is a “larger problem” affecting many women.
