Taylor Swift’s only been making records for 12 years, but amazingly, she’s managed to rack up more top 20 hits than Elton John, who’s been making records for 50 years.
According to Billboard, Taylor’s latest single from her album Reputation, “Delicate,” has become her 41st top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Elton only has 40 by comparison. The only other acts who have more than Taylor are Rihanna and The Beatles, who each have 42; Madonna and rapper Lil Wayne, with 44 each; rapper Drake with 46; and Elvis Presley, who is tops with 48.
Billboard reports that unlike the first three singles from Reputation — “Look What You Made Me Do,” “…Ready for It?” and “End Game” — which peaked quickly and then faded, “Delicate” has been climbing steadily, reaching #20 in its 16th week on the chart.
Meanwhile, it’s just hit #1 on Billboard’s Adult Pop Songs chart — her first to do so since “Wildest Dreams” nearly three years ago.
As Billboard puts it, the song “has already given Taylor…something none of her other Reputation singles can claim: a hit that’s only gotten bigger the longer audiences have spent with it…’Delicate’ has gradually swelled to arguably her most popular single off the set to date.”
