BIG 98.7 IS A PROUD SPONSOR OF THE 2014 FARGO MARATHON!
On a cool May Saturday morning in 2005, just over 2,000 people walked up to the Veteran's Memorial Bridge to kick off the inaugural Scheels Fargo Marathon. That was the beginning of something very special!
In 2014, we will celebrate our 10th Anniversary! Now... a 24,000+ person event covering 3 days! To really do this in style, we are going BACK TO THE BRIDGE for the Starting Line! To make this one of the coolest running events you'll ever be in, for this year, we will be finishing on Broadway in downtown Fargo... right at the Fargo Theatre!
As you finish... the party begins! Broadway will be closed down all day and night so you can celebrate with food, music, friends, and fun! Yes, it is going to be one BIG OLD FASHIONED STREET DANCE... and if you're running or walking, you're in!
The 10K Run/Walk has a new sponsor this year... welcome BIG 98.7! This race has quickly turned into one of the largest 10K races in the upper Midwest... over 4,500 participants in 2013!
A slightly condensed version of the full or half marathons, the BIG 98.7 10K Run/Walk will ALSO take off from the Main Avenue Bridge on Saturday, May 10th... and it will take in a south Fargo loop of 8th and 9th Street, then make its way back to north Fargo and the Broadway Finish Line!
The Friday Night 5K Run/Walk sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Dakota has become the premier 5K in the region, boasting over 8,000 participants in 2013 and over 9,000 in 2012!
Now... for the 10th Anniversary of this 5K, it is time for the 5K to also go "BACK TO THE BRIDGE" just like in 2005! But the REALLY cool part about the 5K is that this race will get to cover TWO BRIDGES!
Our course for the 5K will be starting on the 1st Avenue North, just outside the Fargo Civic Center and go directly east into Moorhead via the 1st Avenue Bridge. From there, it will wind down 3rd Street in Moorhead and up to the Main Avenue Bridge (Veteran's Memorial Bridge). All 5K runners and walkers will get to cross this bridge and go back into Fargo. Once you're back into Fargo, it's a quick trip down 7th Street and up the famous 8th Street.
Now the ABSOLUTE BEST PART... Your Friday Night 5K will finish in ISLAND PARK! Then... it's a Party in the Park! Island Park is one of the original landmarks of Fargo... and it will be full of music and fun on Friday Night!

Welcome to the Fargo Marathon Youth Run, a program established for the benefit of children throughout the Dakotas and Minnesota. Our goal is simple and can be summarized by the following mission statement:
To make physical fitness a cornerstone for all of the children in our group by:
Educating parents and children about the benefits of physical fitness; Hosting physical fitness events in which children can partake; Giving children something they can use for the rest of their lives; Fargo Marathon Youth Run is not about competition or speed. We are focused on helping children make wise choices which will let them reap the benefits of a healthy lifestyle - now and into adulthood.
As we move the Fargo Marathon to downtown Fargo in 2014, we are finalizing the details of the Youth Run (location, etc.) We plan to have this information complete by October, so please stay tuned to this site for updates.
